Diner en Blanc
Diner en Blanc originated in France nearly 30 years ago and
the tradition of high society picnics has traveled all the way from Paris to
Philadelphia. Diner en Blanc takes place every summer in Philadelphia. The
event channels the elegance and glamour of French society.
Here is how it works:
At the last minute, the secret location is revealed. Guests,
dressed in white, travel to the public space to enjoy a night of friends, food,
and fun. This includes a picnic, lighting sparklers, and dancing. Philadelphia
provides a magical cityscape backdrop for the event.
Rules:
Guests must be members or sponsored by a member and there is
a long waiting list to get in!
Participants arrive and depart by chartered transportation
or organized public transportation.
Every group has a table leader and the groups are
responsible for bringing their own tables, chairs, and food.
Guests must bring a table, chairs, white tablecloth, a
picnic basket, food, cutlery, dishware, glassware, trash bags, and wine or
champagne.
At the end of the night, participants take everything with
them, including their trash, leaving their city’s public space clean and
beautiful for the next day.
Participants must wear all white and be dressed elegantly.
This
year’s Diner en Blanc will take place on August 18th and since the
event takes place during the summer, and the dress code is elegant, it is best
if women wear white dresses. Our Rittenhouse boutique is filled with white
dresses perfect for the event. One of our stylists will happily help you choose
the perfect outfit for such a magical evening.

Meet Our Summer Intern
Summer is the season for denim shorts, breezy dresses, and interns! Meet our new summer intern, Zoe.
ellelauri: Zoe, where are you from and where do you go to school?
Zoe: I am originally from Philly. I am going to be a junior at Philadelphia University and I am a fashion merchandising major.
ellelauri: Why did you want to intern with us?
Zoe: Initially, the amazing window displays! I always love the clothes in the window so that's what drew me in to inquire about an internship. When I learned more about the brand and how Liz designs her own clothes and manages the boutiques, I knew I wanted to intern for ellelauri. It is my first retail industry experience and I am so excited to learn the ins and outs of the business.
ellelauri: What are your favorite pieces in the store right now?
Zoe: I love the breezy summer tops and dresses from Feel The Piece and Bella Dahl. I also really love all of the jewelry, especially the statement necklaces.
ellelauri: How would you describe your personal style?
Zoe: Classic. A lot of black and neutral colors. I'm tall so I like pairing something loose-fitting with something tighter so there is a balance.
ellelauri: Who is your style icon?
Zoe: This New York based blogger named Nicole Alyse.
ellelauri: Who is your favorite high fashion designer?
Zoe: It's a tie between Etro and Prada.
ellelauri: What is your favorite piece in your closet?
Zoe: A black wool jacket I got at a thrift store. It's classic but a little edgy.
ellelauri: If you could add one thing to your closet, what would it be?
Zoe: A pair of Gucci slip on loafers; the ones with the fur inside.
ellelauri: What are you listening to right now?
Zoe: I really like Drake's new album.
ellelauri: When you are not at ellelauri, what are you doing?
Zoe: Either cooking or watching fashion shows on YouTube.

Outdoor Dining- Rittenhouse Square
Now that the warm weather is finally here, we can sit outside to wine and dine. We can't think of a better place to enjoy the city's outdoor dining scene than Rittenhouse Square. Here are ellelauri's picks for Rittenhouse's best outdoor dining spots.
Parc
Parc is a French bistro right along the square. It is great for people watching. I absolutely love their mussels and white wine. I also love it because I can bring my Chihuahua, Rudy. -Liz
Continental Rooftop
Continental Rooftop has such good food, especially brunch. It's a different vibe than your typical outdoor dining experience because it is a roof deck. You also have the option to sit either inside or outside. -Amanda
Fitler Dining Room
Off the beaten path, Fitler Dining Room is a neighborhood bistro that serves great food and wine. I love being able to take my Bernese Mountain Dog, Mason, with me and FDR is super dog friendly. They always bring him a bowl of ice water! -Katherine
Twenty Manning
Twenty Manning has really good food and it is fun to sit outside there. I love the chop salad and their wild mushroom ravioli. -Katie

Ritt Row Preview Party 2016
We had a great time at the Rittenhouse Row preview party last night. Many local businesses came together to celebrate Philadelphia's food, fashion, and music. The restaurants showcased some of their favorite dishes, including bite-size desserts and signature cocktails.
Models circulated the room showing off some beautiful looks from Philadelphia's best boutiques.

Main Line Fashion Week
We had such a great time at Main Line Fashion Week. The event was held at Grace Winery in Glen Mills, PA. It was chilly but the scenery was beautiful and the wine definitely warmed us up!
We had a pop-up shop which included clothing designed by Liz Rymar as well as some fun jewelry and accessories that we carry in our boutique.
The fashion show featured some of our favorite looks for spring including floral dresses, white denim, and fringe.
Besides walking down the runway, the models also posed for some pictures outside with exotic cars.

Philadelphia Flower Show
The Philadelphia Flower Show was this past weekend and per usual, the exhibits were breathtaking. This year's theme, "Explore America" allowed us to discover the natural horticulture of the country's beloved parks. There was everything from desert blooms and coastal flora to the wildflowers that grow in meadows.
Not only were there gorgeous flowers everywhere you turned, there were waterfalls, interpretations of classic park architecture, a train garden in which model locomotives go through familiar American landscapes, and even a butterfly experience.
Flowers have always been a huge inspiration for ellelauri. In fact, one of our best selling dresses is a floral print. Our collection has great pieces inspired by the beauty of florals. To quote Claude Monet, "I must have flowers, always and always." We couldn't agree more.
To shop the collection, visit www.ellelauri.com or visit our Rittenhouse location.

Designer Spotlight: Joie DiGiovanni
Joie DiGiovianni is a local jewelry designer who creates
hand-made pieces using semi-precious and precious gemstones. We sat down with
Joie to talk about her new spring collection, what inspires her, and her tips
for wearing multiple pieces at the same time.
ellelauri: How did you get started in the jewelry business?
Joie: I started by selling already made jewelry. After
seeing the quality of the product that was already out there, I set out to
elevate jewelry and decided to start my own line. I started with beaded
bracelets, Buddha’s, infinity signs and love. I wanted my jewelry to be
timeless so I started using fresh water pearls. I think the more you layer, the
better it looks.
ellelauri: What inspired your spring/summer collection?
Joie: I wanted this collection to be really fun and take you
from day to night. I used a lot of pale pinks and pale blues and turquoise
because turquoise is always fun. Everything I do, I try to incorporate fresh
water pearls because they are timeless. The leather is very versatile; it
transitions perfectly from a day at the beach to a fun night out. The leather
with the pearls has the ability to get wet and is finished with a slipknot
closure. All of the pieces are meant to be layered. It’s a very boho-chic vibe.
ellelauri: What gemstones did you use?
Joie: I used tantalized turquoise, polymer clay pave beads,
AA-quality fresh water pearls, mother of pearl, and howlite.
ellelauri: What is the significance of the Buddha?
Joie: The Buddha gives off positive vibes and I like to
think my jewelry gives off good vibes too. I want girls to feel good when they
wear my pieces.
ellelauri: How do you envision the girl who wears your
jewelry?
Joie: Bohemian
ellelauri: If you could have any celebrity be photographed
wearing your jewelry, who would it be and why?
Joie: Olivia Palermo. I love her style and I think she is
really good at accessorizing and layering.
ellelauri: What is your favorite piece from this new
collection?
Joie: I love the triple choker because it gives the effect
of wearing multiple when you are only wearing one. I love the layering effect.
ellelauri: What is your favorite combination?
Joie: I love gold and silver together. It goes with
everything and doesn’t limit people to just one or the other.
ellelauri: Do you have any tips on mixing jewelry?
Joie: The more you mix the more interesting it becomes. It
gives an added dimension.
ellelauri: Is there anything else we should know about your
jewelry?
Joie: Everything is made by hand. I drill every piece and
hand knot everything.
