How to "Shop Like Local"

Palomar, a Kimpton Hotel at 117 South 17th Street at Sansom in Philadelphia, offers a great service for those visiting Philadelphia: Shop Like a Local.

Written by style expert Ian Michael Crumm, the online local fashion guide gives all Philly visitors a great cheat sheet of where to find the city's most fashionable establishments. The guide gives travelers a list of stores unique to Philadelphia, but with national recognition. The guide identifies nearby shops and boutiques that have a local touch that you can take home for out-of-towners

ellelauri was named in Crumm's latest guide: Shop Like a Local Vol. II which was unveiled earlier this month at an event hosted by the hotel and Alysia Reiner, who stars in Orange is the New Black, a huge hit series on Netflix.

Pictured below, Alysia is wearing a dress from the ellelauri boutique in Rittenhouse.

Fashion Touchdown

2nd Annual Fashion Touchdown

Philadelphia law firm Zarwin Baum hosted The 2nd Annual Fashion Touchdown on Monday night September 21st. It was an amazing event with the Philadelphia Eagles walking the catwalk modeling looks from local Philadelphia designers to raise money for local kids.

The event took place at Vie in Northern Liberties.  Proceeds from the event benefited Big Brothers Big Sisters Southeastern PA

It was an amazing event attended by the most fashionable Philadelphians raising money for a good cause. The auction and the bidding on the signed players jerseys was a very entertaining and fun part of the evening. Our favorite FOX 29’s Good Day Show personalities, Alex Holley and Mike Jerrick hosted the event.

Eagles players Jon Dorenbos, Brandon Graham, Malcolm Jenkins, Cody Parkey, Mark Sanchez, and Cedric Thornton  sported clothing by Robbini Bespoke, as well as bow-ties and pocket squares from Malcolm Jenkins’ line, Rock Avenue Bow-Ties. The shoes were also from local men’s shoe retailer ToBox.
Rob Fung, founder of Robbini Bespoke and ellelauri designer Liz Rymar
Marcus Allen, BBBSSEPA CEO, introduced Eric Blumenfeld and William Procida the developers of the Divine Lorraine and the Metropolitan Opera House and announced that a percentage of the unit sales from the North Broad St. location will be going to the mentorship program at Ben Franklin High School in Philadelphia. All in all it was a great event that included fashion, friends and raising money for a fantastic cause!

Preakness: Fashionable for a good cause

ellelauri was a proud sponsor of this year's Preakness at the Piazza. The event was a great success for fashionable Philadelphians and most importantly for the fight against multiple sclerosis. $118,000 was earned to support the National MS Society.

The beautiful Preakness at the Piazza host, Alex Holley, wore a dress from ellelauri.

Throughout the day DJ Royale kept the dance music playing so the crowd had fun even in the rain.

Thanks to the Preakness at the Piazza committee for planning such a fabulous event. Below is a picture from a promo they filled with Fox29 wearing ellelauri dresses!

"Black-eyed Susan" cocktails were the featured drink since it's traditional at the Preakness Stakes. Black-Eyed Susans are vodka, St. Germain, pineapple juice, lime juice, and orange juice garnished with a fresh orange slice and cherry.

Fresh and refreshing, drinkable black eyed Susans.

ellelauri staff and friends enjoyed the sights and sounds wearing bright spring colors and of course some great hats!

To make the day complete Philadelphia' first lady, Lisa Nutter, was one of the judges for the best dressed fashion show, and Mayor Nutter was on hand to support the event too.

See you all next year!

Wedding invitation? Here's what to wear

Wedding Etiquette: Fashion Faux Pas and How to Prevent Them

by Etiquette Expert and founder of Beaumont Etiquette, Myka Meier

With wedding season finally here, you may be invited to your fair share of summer soirees!

The first question many of us ask ourselves:
What am I going to wear?

Before you start planning your perfect outfit, remember there are a few details that are predetermined by the bride and groom which may factor into what you should wear:

1. Is there a dress code on the invitation or wedding website? You’ll need to know if the wedding is beach chic, a casual affair, or perhaps even an elegant black tie

2. Seasonality - In order to pick out the perfect summer wedding outfit, be conscious of the season - you may be the only one wearing a black floor length dress in summer otherwise! Stick to pastels and bright colors until Labor Day

3. Is the ceremony at a church, synagogue or other religious establishment? In some cultures and religions, women’s shoulders should be covered

4. Is the reception in a different location than the ceremony? Make sure your outfit is appropriate for both

5. What time is the wedding? A day event will see you dressing differently than a night event. Typically day events are more garden party elegant, while an evening event may require a bit dressier of an outfit

So now that you’ve got your checklist of factors, here are a few other wedding etiquette fashion faux pas to keep in mind when picking your outfit:

Never wear white, off white or anything that even slightly could be mistaken for white! It’s the color reserved for brides and is considered disrespectful to wear it on their special day.

Don’t “outdo” the bride - a nice dress is one thing but to wear something which commands too much attention should be put away for another day (No full sequin dress!) All eyes should be on the bride.

Keep it classy - this day should be about showing love and respect to the happy couple - wearing something that has too short a hemline, is see through, shows too much cleavage or is too revealing in any way is not appropriate

hydrate, cleanse and debloat: simple flavored water

We all know drinking lots of water throughout the day is important for so many reasons – to hydrate, flush out toxins, regulate digestion, for heathy skin… the list goes on.

However, sometimes sipping plain old H2O can get a little boring. By using these simple ingredients you can add loads of flavor without additional sugars and calories of store bought flavored water. My favorite combination is cucumber, lemon, ginger and mint.  Not only do these ingredients add delicious flavor- they offer so many health benefits.

Lemon- lemon is a powerful cleanser and also helps to alkalize your body. Lemon also contains Vitamin C, which will help boost immunity.

Ginger – ginger contains many anti-inflammatory properties. It also helps aid in digestion, settle your stomach, and helps with flushing out toxins.

Mint – mint is a natural stimulant, which helps soothe the digestive tract. It also stimulates the digestive enzymes that absorb nutrients from food and consume fat and convert it into energy. Therefore, it is helping you convert the food you consume to energy rather than storing it as fat. As a natural stimulant, mint is known to naturally combat fatigue and help to recharge your batteries.

Cucumber- cucumber has many detoxifying, antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory properties. It also adds a refreshing taste and leaves you feeling refreshed and hydrated.

Thinly slice 1/2 a the cucumber, ginger (as much as you desire) and a lemon or two. Add in a few sprigs of mint and add all ingredients to a pitcher of water and let sit overnight. Sip throughout the day.
